Why do museum curators use white, cotton gloves instead of disposable, latex gloves when handling antiques? - white cotton gloves
Cotton is less abrasive for fragile items, especially manuscripts, prints and textiles. Moreover, they are reusable and washable. Less waste and garbage. I worked as a research assistant in a museum some years ago and an employee told me that work better (in certain light conditions, such as black light) lamps. But I could not say with real authority.
